Dear Reader,

The count is in. Over the last week, those of us at First Things have been overwhelmed by the generous support of print and online readers like you. I’m delighted to report that this year’s spring campaign brought in $660,680!

In the face of last year’s turmoil, our readers have rallied behind First Things. With your support, we have affirmed timeless truths when others have been swept away by the passions and fears of the moment.

We have emerged from the rubble of 2020. Now, our task is one of renewal.

Today’s widespread woke activism represents a correct, but perverted, intuition: Our society needs unity in pursuit of noble ends.

We must counter this misguided search for unity with a clearer vision of solidarity that recovers and uplifts the best traditions of the West, rather than attempting to destroy them.

That’s why your support matters.

Today, I believe that First Things can serve as a guiding voice in this great age of moral and cultural reconsolidation—a voice that can lead us to discover a better future for our country. I look forward to your continued company as we begin this new journey together.

Thank you again for your support during this campaign, and for your continued readership of First Things.

Sincerely,

R. R. Reno, Editor
First Things
