Dear John, “I don’t think their feet touched the ground on the way out.” This was how one of our attendees described her two guests’ reaction to last month’s 2021 Annual Dinner. I am grateful to have received this positive feedback and more like it, that called the dinner program the “best one yet”, that observed that the Holy Spirit was particularly evident or that described the message as compelling. It was a special evening, with a dynamic keynote address from Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and a clarion call to exercise citizenship worthy of the Gospel of Christ, as Paul explained in Philippians 4:29. I only wish more Minnesotans could have been there to hear it! Delays in reopening our state made it impossible for us to lock in the date earlier, which prevented many of our allies and most generous supporters from attending. As a result, the revenue for the night – which typically sustains us through the lean-giving summer months – was short of what we had hoped for or expected. That’s why I’m asking for your generosity to help us meet the summer need and maximize the unmet portion of the matching challenge from last month’s dinner. You see, we have an $85,000 matching challenge – and generous donors contributed $70,000 at the dinner – so your gift of $25, $50, $100 or even more, as the Lord leads, will be doubled – until we reach $15,000 in contributions. |
