John–
I first got involved in civic engagement because I wanted to be a part of
positive change to serve all Americans through politics and civil service.
That drive led me to become the Executive Director of the Democratic Party
of Arkansas. But on August 13, 2008, a man came into the office and shot
and killed my boss, Chair Bill Gwatney. I was the only other person in the
room.
What happened that day was a personal and public tragedy for many people
in Arkansas and around the country, but that experience reinforced my
commitment to make sure that our country has strong leaders who will
address complex and deeply rooted problems, including gun violence. That's
why I believe David Chipman is the right person to lead the federal Bureau
of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
We need a dedicated public servant like David Chipman to lead the ATF and
work to end our country's gun violence crisis. [ [link removed] ]Send your U.S. senators

It's no secret that gun violence—exacerbated during and after the
pandemic—is increasing across the country. Additionally, as an Asian
American Pacific Islander (AAPI) woman, it has been devastating to see our
country experience a rise in violence against the AAPI communities fueled
by xenophobia, misogyny, and racism—and enabled by guns in the wrong
hands. The tragedy in Atlanta this past March where eight people were shot
and killed, six of them Asian women, was another unspeakable tragedy in
the workplace.
John, there is too much at stake. We know David Chipman has the
credentials, experience, and commitment to enforce our laws and combat
violent crimes. Our U.S. senators must confirm him as director of the ATF.
[ [link removed] ]Tell your U.S. senators today: Confirm David Chipman as ATF Director.
My life changed that day in August 2008, when I became a survivor of gun
violence. What has not changed is my commitment to serve the public and
fight for a government that will keep our communities safe.
Thank you for demanding action, and thank you for being a part of this
movement.
