This morning, I am thinking of how important economic and racial equity are for those in our community who most need policies that better serve them.
Why this morning? On Saturday and Tuesday we will act on collective bargaining, our police civilian review board and to further hold a nonprofit partner and our County accountable for better serving low-income families at the Serrano. I feel the weight of that responsibility now as much as any time this year.
So what can you do to help? I want to share with you an event on Sunday for my friend Takis Karantonis that I am hosting along with Parisa Dehghani-Tafti. Takis shares our ideals on these issues that are at the heart of who we are and want to be. I ask you to support him and join me on Sunday afternoon at Parisa's home to support of him.
Sometimes I wonder and worry if I am doing enough. Will I look back and feel we have met this moment and truly delivered the meaningful reforms we need in our country, Virginia, and yes, most personally, Arlington? Helping Takis is one way to help do what we need to do. I ask you to join me in supporting him as much as you can.
Because, we simply cannot do the work we need to do in Arlington and in Virginia over the next four years if Takis does not win in November.
Sincerely,
Matt ps. If you have questions about the event, please email me at [email protected].
