See how the Child Tax Credit can help your family

July 15th, 2021

John,

Today, families across eastern Connecticut and the country will start receiving the refundable Child Tax Credit through the American Rescue Plan. This effort, led by Connecticut's own Rosa DeLauro and passed without a single Republican vote, is projected to cut national child poverty rates in half.

In eastern Connecticut over 100,000, nearly 79%, of children will benefit from the expanded and improved Child Tax Credit. On average, households in our region will see about $2,400.

For most families that qualify, they will receive payments automatically. For those that don’t ordinarily file taxes, they will need to take a few steps to sign up to get it. If you or someone you know wants to learn more about how they will benefit or how to make sure they get this help, vist. https://www.whitehouse.gov/child-tax-credit/

This is just the latest way that the American Rescue Plan passed by House Democrats is helping eastern Connecticut recover and rebuilding from pandemic.

  • Over $251 million in direct aid to towns and cities helping invest in infrastructure, community safety, and supporting hard-hit local budgets
  • and $200 million in help to local school districts to prepare for getting our kids back into school
  • Help to restaurants, museums, live event venues and

While I’m working to help our region recover and rebuild, some of my Republican colleagues are focused on one thing - obstruction and chaos. Just last week, a House Republican laid bare their intention on nation TV, saying that their agenda is “‘Eighteen more months of chaos and the inability to get stuff done. That's what we want.’”

That’s what we are up against.

I won’t let them stand in the way of important work like this, and appreciate your strong and continued support as we take on the fights ahead.
