Jack, Senate Democrats announced a plan to move forward with $3.5 trillion in new human infrastructure spending (jobs, health care, child care, paid family and medical leave, etc) via budget reconciliation—a process that is not subject to the filibuster and allows Democrats to get things done against Republican obstruction. This $3.5 trillion comes on top of the $579 billion being negotiated as a bipartisan bill with Senate Republicans for a whopping $4.1 trillion total.

Let's be clear: This is a good plan.

During the Trump years, Daily Kos recruited volunteers to fill 200,000 Get Out The Vote shifts and raised $30,000,000 for Democratic candidates for office. This helped Democrats capture the White House and Congress in 2018 and 2020. So far this year, Daily Kos readers have taken more than one million actions—including sending 591,040 letters and making 21,843 calls to Congress—telling Democrats to go big on infrastructure, jobs, health care, fighting climate change, and cutting child poverty. Today's announcement makes clear that grassroots activism and pressure works!

Now let's finish the job. We have a long way to go--months--before this bill becomes law, and huge forces will be arrayed against us to stop it. It will take millions more grassroots actions to get this done, and that won't be easy. Can you start a $5 monthly recurring donation to Daily Kos so we have the resources to help push Democrats' infrastructure plans through Congress and deliver it on to President Biden's desk?
