Real Justice

John, allow me to introduce myself.

I’m Lee Merritt — a civil rights attorney, community organizer, and co-founder of the Grassroots Law Project. And I’m running to be the next Attorney General of Texas.

I’m going to ask for some urgent support real soon. But I want to share a little bit more about myself, and why I’m running for this seat.

At the age of fourteen, I was first introduced to the juvenile penal system. My earliest memories of my father are of seeing him behind bars.

His father, who I have never met, was also formerly incarcerated. My two brothers have been saddled with the label "felon" which locks them out of jobs, opportunities, and full citizenship.

For the last few years, my law practice has focused on exposing and dismantling what — in my eyes — is the central human rights crisis of our time: the racist machine of mass incarceration and police brutality.

I’m honored to say that I will be continuing that mission as a candidate for Texas Attorney General.

I’m running to be the People’s Attorney General. To give a voice to the voiceless. To fight back against the systems of policing and incarceration that tear families like mine apart every day. And to ensure that all Texans — regardless of background, race, religion, party, or class — have someone looking out for their interests.

It won’t be an easy race. Ken Paxton — the Republican incumbent who infamously met with the organizers of the Capitol Riots on January 6th — has an army of right-wing mega donors and super PACs at his disposal.

But we have you. And despite what the pundits and "experts" will try and say, we CAN win this race if we work together. So, I’m asking:

Please help us get this campaign off on the right foot by making a donation today. Every single dollar helps. And my friends at Real Justice will be MATCHING funds up to $50,000 at this special link — but only during this critical launch period. Please pitch in now!

It’s going to take all of us to take on Ken Paxton and his backers. But we’re used to uphill battles. The people of Texas aren’t going to back down from this fight. Nor are the thousands of supporters from around the country.

This is our moment. Let’s get after it.

Lee Merritt
