John --

Today was something special.

I just met with twelve of the Texas lawmakers who fled the state and flew to Washington in order to block two new voter suppression bills making their way through the state legislature.

I’m so proud and inspired by the legislators, grassroots organizers and the people of Texas who have stood up to protect their sacred right to vote. That is democracy in action.

And here’s what I promised them: You’re not in this fight alone.

It’s on us—lawmakers in Washington and people across the country—to stand with Texans as they put it all on the line to fight voter suppression and protect our democracy.

Please, if you’re standing with these brave Texans fighting for our democracy, it’s your turn to say it—add your name now to show your support. [[link removed]]

Remember, this isn’t some symbolic show of support. This is about keeping the spotlight on what these legislators are trying to do in Texas, and on the other voter suppression bills making their way through state legislatures across the country.

And it’s about making it clear to my fellow lawmakers in Washington that the American people will not rest until we pass the For the People Act and enshrine critical protections in federal law.

Because Republicans don’t care about protecting the “integrity” of our elections. They have offered zero evidence of widespread voter fraud. They are using Donald Trump’s “Big Lie” that the election was stolen as an excuse to suppress the vote.

We cannot let them. We have to fight back. Even if that means getting rid of the filibuster to protect voting rights.

Can you add your name to stand with the people of Texas in this fight? I want to show the incredible lawmakers I just met—and people across the country—that this team has their back. [[link removed]]

Thank you for standing with them. It means so much to me.
