Friend,
Everyone (well … almost everyone) agrees that high-speed internet in the United States is way too expensive.
And by and large the people who think prices are just fine work for internet service providers that have raked in mind-boggling profits during the pandemic while millions of people have struggled to stay connected.
Congress needs to use the infrastructure package to make high-speed internet more affordable. Negotiations are moving quickly in D.C. and your lawmakers need to hear from you TODAY. Send your senators and representative a note now and we’ll deliver it to them immediately.

It’s not just the cost of high-speed internet that we at Free Press Action are keeping an eye on. We’re also pushing Congress to invest in making the physical infrastructure — think poles and wires — more resilient in the face of the climate crisis.
After Hurricanes Maria and Irma, Puerto Rico was left with a communications blackout, and the inability to communicate cost thousands of people their lives. Last month, power cables in the Pacific Northwest were literally melting during the record-breaking heatwave.
The ability to communicate during a crisis — whether it’s a pandemic or a severe weather event — is a life-and-death issue. Urge your members of Congress to invest the funds it will take to make sure everyone in the country has access to affordable and reliable high-speed internet.

P.S. Congress has the opportunity to make a historic investment in high-speed internet infrastructure. But we have to make sure this investment gets over the finish line during negotiations. Tell Congress: Use the infrastructure package to make high-speed internet affordable and reliable for all.
