Friend,
I am honored and humbled to share that I am one of just eight Democrats – and the only freshman Representative – to be appointed by Speaker Nancy Pelosi to the newly created Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth.
This Select Committee, modeled on President Roosevelt’s Temporary National Economic Committee established during the Great Depression, will focus on the widening wealth and income disparity in the United States and how we can create an economy that works for everyone.
Since I was sworn in earlier this year, I have been keenly focused on tackling childhood poverty and our child care crisis and making sure that our recovery from COVID-19 is equitable and prioritizes the needs of women, who have left the workforce at alarming rates. I am honored to be continuing that work on this committee — to ensure that we’re getting assistance to kids and families and addressing the ways inequality will exist and grow in the future.
As Speaker Pelosi said when she announced the Committee, “Everybody has to think that they and their families will have a better future than their parents. And when that is dulled, again, it’s not good for a country.”
This work is crucial. But in order to keep moving forward, Democrats have to hold the House majority in 2022 — and that means we can’t afford to lose a single seat.
Will you chip in any amount today to help keep Democrats in the House majority and keep defending American workers and families? Any amount makes a difference!
