Hi John,
I’m Congresswoman Cori, proudly representing St. Louis in the United States Congress. I couldn’t be more excited to tell you why I’m all in for Amy Vilela’s candidacy for Congress!
She was there by my side in St. Louis last summer, working tirelessly to get me elected. Her help was a huge part of the reason that I’m in Congress serving Missouri’s First District today.
Now, in 2022, Amy’s running for Nevada’s First District to represent Las Vegas in the same uncompromising and unapologetically progressive way that I’m representing St. Louis, and it’s time for us to have her back like she had ours last year.
Will you join me in supporting my sister Amy by making a contribution to her campaign today?
I’ve known Amy for years, and I’ve rarely met anyone as dedicated to the movement—as committed to the work of saving lives—as Amy is. For Amy, I know that commitment comes from the struggles that she’s lived.
Amy knows, like I do, what it’s like to be an unhoused single mother; what it’s like to work multiple jobs to take care of her babies; what it’s like to face domestic abuse. She knows how the cracks in our system can quite literally be deadly for Black and brown people. We need to elect more people like Amy, who will never stop fighting for regular, everyday people.
I’ve learned so much in my first 6 months in Congress, but one thing stands out in particular: we need to elect so many more regular, everyday people like Amy, who I know will never stop working for the people, if we’re going to pass the kind of bold legislation that I’ve introduced, like the Green New Deal for Cities and the People’s Response Act. This is the legislation that our districts need — as communities struggling under the burdens of environmental injustice and police violence.
Taking on the establishment isn’t easy. Take it from me. I’ve done it. And won.
But I couldn’t have done it without people like Amy, who helped keep me going even in the most challenging times, or from people like you, who believed and invested in my campaign, even when we were up against the odds.
I know Amy can win, and I know she’s going to give this campaign everything she’s got, but she can’t do it alone.
Thank you, and I’ll see you on the campaign trail!
In Solidarity,
Cori Bush
Member of Congress, MO-01
