John --
We have some bad news for Democratic hopes of holding both chambers of Congress in 2022. A higher than expected number of Democrats are leaving their seats next year, which means there will be a lot of open seats that we will have to defend. With that number of Democratic retirements still climbing, Republicans smell blood in the water, and the NRCC recently added seats to its list of 2022 targets, bringing that number to a whopping 57.
It's not all doom and gloom. Some of these Democrats are running for higher office, and that's a good thing -- we'll have lots of strong, progressive candidates for the Senate and governor's mansions across the country. But we've seen that if you let Republicans control even one lever of power in Washington, they will use it to grind progress to a halt. We can't afford that when our country is in such dire need of rebuilding. We must not only hold the House but expand our majority.
We have to build our network and resources now -- before our new 2022 House candidates announce their campaigns. We want to ensure our candidates can hit the ground running against their GOP opponents, otherwise we risk losing all hope for progress.

We've got to do whatever it takes to keep the Republican Party from building power in 2022 and beyond. Thank you for being a part of our team.
