House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy ordered his caucus to vote against a January 6 committee into the Capitol insurrection. On that same day, he demanded the House Intelligence Committee investigate Fox News host Tucker Carlson's baseless claims that the NSA was spying on him.
McCarthy has stood, unapologetically, by AZ Rep. Paul Gosar as he openly fundraised with neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers -- yet he threatend to strip any Republicans who accept an appointment to the January 6 committee of their committee assignments.
MSNBC's Charlie Sykes said it best, team: “In McCarthy's GOP, the attack on democracy is memory-holed, while a Fox News conspiracy theory is hyped. Bigots are tolerated, while truth-tellers are purged and bullied.”
Who's going to tell McCarthy that the American people are paying attention and his actions have consequences? Only we can.
Right now, McCarthy is only 5 seats away from taking control of the chamber, and according to FiveThirtyEight, he's on track to get his wish.
