Dear Friend,
There are several upcoming events coming up around PEI, so we
thought we'd let you know about them as well as a few other Green
Party of PEI updates!
Tomorrow, Thursday July 15th, Tyne
Valley-Sherbrooke MLA Trish Altass,?who is the new Official
Opposition Critic for Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture, will be on
Zoom from 7-8pm to hear from YOU about priorities
you'd like her to work on in these areas, as well as any ideas you may
have.

music by the Green Party Party Band (including Peter BB on trumpet!),
and the good company you'll always find at Green Party events!

In Eastern PEI on Sunday, July
25th, join the first Belfast Cookout hosted by Omair Imtiaz,
a member of Provincial Council who was elected as the Eastern Rep in
April.
Come on out for a fun event, and if you can, bring your own
lawn chair, cups, plates, and utensils as we're aiming for this to be
a zero waste event. We'll provide both meat and vegetarian
alternatives, and you are welcome to bring a dish to share if you
like. Freewill donations to help cover the cost of the food will be
accepted. There will be good food, conversations, maybe some frisbee
on the lawn, and sun tea!

meaningful work with the Green Party, please consider applying!

Did you see that PEI Green members recently confirmed our very
first grassroots policy resolutions?
I'm especially excited about this, because one of the seven policy
motions that passed, calling for bicycles and e-bikes to be included
in the same type of incentive programs offered for electric cars, was
sponsored by me!
The other new policies are about sustainable agriculture,
protection of pollinators, championing the use of citizens assemblies
for electoral reform and other topics, exploring a Renters' Tax
Credit, changing the way PEI assesses the need for new schools, and
establishing a Climate Change Investment Fund.

Members also confirmed a Constitutional amendment that will give Provincial
Council more flexibility in terms of how we define and organize the
roles of individual councillors. Provincial Council is discussing how
to implement the change, and will keep members informed and consulted
as we move forward.
The opportunity for members to draft and submit policy motions is
open on an ongoing basis - see this page for more information: www.peigreens.ca/motions2021, or email [email protected] for help getting
started!
