Team -- For decades, our leaders have led with the approach that less funding and more belt-tightening for Nevada public schools will somehow yield better results.
But here’s the truth, friends: You can’t say you’re for schools if you’re against funding them. It’s been proven time and time again that funding matters for student achievement.
Gov. Sisolak has made supporting and enriching the public school system one of his top priorities. And he continues to deliver on that promise.
Just last month, he signed a series of bills in support of K-12 education, including:
- AB 495, which will create a 1% levy on large silver and gold mines for public school funding, and will dedicate an additional $200 million in Nevada’s federal funding for Nevada’s K-12 public schools.
- SB 173, which will help schools and students get back on track after the pandemic brought countless hurdles to academic success, ensuring no student falls through the cracks.
- SB 249, which prioritizes students’ mental health by providing for approved school absences in the face of mental health difficulties.
- SB 450, which will allow school buildings to undergo necessary repairs and new schools to be built, all while creating new jobs for Nevadans.
Not to mention, Gov. Sisolak continues to donate his Governor salary to Nevada public schools, because he believes that our schools are shaping our future — and every single Nevada student deserves to be part of that future.
For his entire term, Gov. Sisolak has been hard at work for the people of Nevada, and we can only expect more progress if we re-elect him next year.
Will you sign on to our petition to let Gov. Sisolak know you support the legislation he’s signed to help public schools and students across the state?
With your support and your voice, we can continue making progress like this for years to come.
Thank you for being part of this movement,
Team Sisolak
