The Texas legislature has introduced a bill that would severely restrict voting for hundreds of thousands of people.

The proposed legislation would ban drive-through voting and 24-hour voting, two popular and successful methods of balloting that nearly 140,000 people used in the Houston area alone. It would also prohibit anyone from sending an unsolicited absentee ballot application to a voter; a cruel muzzle, seemingly designed to make it harder for people to take advantage of voting from home.

Restrictive legislation like this has popped up in dozens of states, including Minnesota. We need Congress to pass the For the People Act or the John Lewis Voting Rights Act to ensure the voting rights for all Americans. Join me in calling on Congress to take immediate action.

Fifty-seven members of the Texas House opposed the legislation and have fled Texas in order to deny the quorum necessary to act on the bill.

Those principled legislators gathered in Washington D.C. pleading with Congress to act quickly and boldly to stop Texas (and other states) from enacting harsh new restrictions on voting.

Those legislators are right: It's up to Congress now to beat back attempts to limit the freedom to vote. If you agree, add your name now → [link removed]
