John,
From blackouts in Texas, to wildfires out west, to catastrophic flooding and the highest temperatures in recorded history, we are already paying the price for climate change and the demands it places on our crumbling infrastructure.
Right now, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to tackle this crisis with the urgency it demands. But last night, Democrats on the Senate Budget Committee released a budget plan that doesn't go nearly far enough.
As talks in Congress move forward, we're going to need House Democrats to step up and ensure this infrastructure package is of the scale required to meet this moment. And we're going to hear a lot of noise from Republicans and corporate Democrats alike about how much tackling climate change will “cost.”
We’re already seeing with our own eyes how the cost of inaction on climate will be far greater than the cost of doing something. That’s a message we need to make sure all our representatives in Congress hear now that they are back in session this week.
As Congress debates its biggest funding priorities in the coming days, will you join WFP in sending a virtual postcard making it clear that they must not pass any infrastructure deal that does not include real action on climate? Now is the time for Congress to step up and represent the interests of working people. Every virtual postcard you share sends a message to Congress that we will hold them accountable for the promises they made to us.

Congressional majorities can come and go. That’s why the Working Families Party has been calling on Democrats to go big and bold: To rebuild American infrastructure in a way that advances climate justice, promotes climate-resilient communities, and protects the most vulnerable Americans from the worst effects of climate change.
WFP champions in Congress are fighting to include these provisions and more in the next infrastructure package. But corporate Democrats, Republicans, and the fossil fuel megacorporations that fund them are doing everything in their power to stop us.
The devastating effects of the climate crisis are already here, especially for low-income Americans, communities of color, disabled folks, and seniors. That is why we need to keep the pressure on — to send a loud and clear message that without climate, there can be no deal.
If you agree that Democrats in Congress need to step up on climate NOW, will you take a minute to send a virtual postcard to your member of Congress? Create your postcard now, then share it on social media:
