Friend,
When there’s an urgent need, you always come through.
Over the weekend, you helped raise over $8,600 for seniors in Rashida’s district who’ve been displaced by flooding. Without our support, they would not be able to afford the short-term housing they need to stay safe while their homes are repaired from flood damage.
Last month, you came through, supporting Rashida and helping us meet and surpass our end-of-quarter fundraising goals. Thank you! Our quarterly fundraising report will become public tomorrow and truly show the strength of our movement for justice and equity.
Now, we need your help to grow our movement and support candidates at the local level.
Yesterday, Rashida endorsed 8 candidates for local office. Half of these candidates participated in our inaugural Rooted in Community Campaign School―and every single one will champion critical issues from water accessibility to universal healthcare to environmental justice to workers’ rights.
Read more below about the candidates Rashida is supporting, then chip in and split a contribution between these amazing candidates to build our movement to win.
Throughout our progressive community, we uplift the need to encourage women and people of color to run for office―because it’s important to build a government that looks like us and that represents our values.
We need to ensure the support is there when candidates take the courageous step of throwing their hat into the ring, and provide them with the financial support they need to win. Friend, can you chip in $5 to these local progressive candidates and build our movement to win?
Thank you for always having Rashida’s back and for investing in the future of our communities and our movement for change. We couldn't do this work without you.

Friend,
When I knock down barriers, I make sure to keep the door open behind me.
That means not just encouraging and training women and people of color to run for office―but to support them when they do.
Today, I’m proud to endorse 8 candidates for local and citywide office, from Detroit to Dearborn Heights to Westland. Half of these candidates were part of our inaugural Rooted in Community Campaign School this year.
Each candidate has our district’s back—they champion issues that affect our families and bring attention to crises like water shutoffs, the need for universal healthcare, and worker protections. They're going to help make the changes we need.
It is crucial to build on our progressive momentum. And that involves electing people who are rooted in community and equipped to fight on behalf of the people. The candidates I've endorsed are ready to take on corporations and special interest groups, who have too much power in our majority-Black and low-wealth district. They're going to disrupt the status quo and ensure our voices are represented in government.

Our endorsed candidates include:
-
Denzel McCampbell — Detroit City Clerk
-
Latisha Johnson — Detroit City Council (District 4)
-
Gabriela Santiago-Romero — Detroit City Council (District 6)
-
Angy Webb ― Detroit City Council (District 7)
-
Landis Spencer ― City of Detroit Board of Police Commissioners (District 6)
-
Byron D. Brooks ― Detroit District 7 Community Advisory Board
-
Lisa Hicks-Clayton ― Dearborn Heights Treasurer
-
Tasha Green ― City of Westland Mayor
The 13th Congressional District raised me, and it’s an honor to represent my community in the United States House of Representatives.
Now, I’m excited to support some of my neighbors as they fight for transformative progressive change in the district, at every local government level.
Donate to these local candidates for elected office today to grow our progressive movement and ensure our voices are represented at every level of government.
