Today marks the 232nd anniversary of the day Parisians stormed the Bastille, an event that has come to symbolize the start of the French Revolution. Our lead story comes from a group known as the Patriotic Millionaires that a year ago on Bastille Day called on multimillionaires and billionaires to commit to giving away their vast stores of wealth. We also feature a story on how union co-ops might be one path to achieving those centuries-old values of liberty, equality, and solidarity. Last, but not least, this week we launch with Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP) a series of articles on economic justice in Latinx communities—first up, an introductory article by the CEO of HIP and a story from Los Angeles on the economic justice struggles of Latinx street vendors.
