Rep. Boebert speaking at CPAC Following a week of condemnation from antisemitism watchdogs and spreading COVID misinformation, Rep. Boebert did not slow down and went straight into her next controversy. At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Dallas, Texas last Saturday, Rep. Boebert took aim at the Biden administration and the social programs that are helping struggling Americans stay afloat. "We're here to tell the government we don't want your benefits, we don't want your welfare. Don't come knocking on my door with your 'Fauci Ouchi,' you leave us the hell alone," Boebert told a crowd of hooting CPAC attendees. Rep. Boebert's comments come after the successful passage of the American Rescue Plan act, a $1.9 trillion economic recovery plan designed by the Biden administration. The recovery plan provides an extra $300 per week for recipients of unemployment benefits until September 6, 2021, and further extends the CARES Act's Pandemic Unemployment Assistance and Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation. For many conservative politicians, cutting government benefits is the linchpin of their political ethos. If it were up to the GOP, they would repeal the American Rescue Plan and claw back your $1,400 checks. What Rep. Boebert forgot to mention while she was telling the federal government to "leave us the hell alone," is that, according to a recent report from the Federal Reserve, the four Colorado counties with the highest unemployment rates in the state are in her district. Out of the state’s 64 counties, four have an unemployment rate of eight percent or higher: San Miguel (11.4 percent), Pitkin (8.5), Pueblo (8), and Huerfano (8) – all located in the 3rd Congressional District. So while Rep. Boebert was on stage lambasting government social safety net programs, many in her district were directly benefiting from aid provided by the federal government. And on top of that, Rep. Boebert wants you to forget is that she, too, benefited from social safety net policies in her youth. For Rep. Boebert, it's government aid for me, but not for thee! Rep. Boebert's mission is to chip away at critical social safety net programs while she is in office, thereby depriving hardworking Coloradoans of the support they deserve from the federal government during times of hardship. Rep. Boebert was happy to use the ladder to get herself up, but once she was up, she pulled the ladder out from under the rest of us. With your help, we can flip Rep. Bobert's seat and elect a new champion for Coloradans to rally behind. We must protect social safety net programs. If Boebert gains another term in office, the fallout would be disastrous for Coloradans and our great nation. Lend us your support today, so we can start building towards a brighter future.
