What we call American History is basically the history of this country as written by a 15-year-old rich white kid. Without Critical Race Theory no one would know that:

Native Americans were not proud warriors who shared turkeys with the brave white settlers. But that they are victims of genocide and have fought a long road to regain some semblance of self-determination.
Black slaves were not a meek workforce of backwards people saved by the white industrialists. But that slavery was THE economic engine that built this country, the spoils of which only to be owned and ruled by straight white males.
Asian and Pacific Islander people are hardworking immigrants happy to serve their white benefactors. But that the railroads killed them, the agricultural industry killed them, the clothing industry killed them, and so on and so on.
LatinX people are quiet and hardworking immigrants grateful to a rich nation that welcomes them. But that America wages war in their countries only to drive them to a country that won’t let them in. And when they are able to enter must take the worst jobs and lowest pay as gratitude for a nation that has saved them from the evils America has wrought all over Central and South America.

Our history was never told and so we need to tell it. That is why we have Critical Race Theory. And that is why the White Right wants it banned from schools. Along with science and ethics they don’t want our children and young adults to learn about the fight against racism and oppression. The hypocrisy that is America.

That is why we fight! To speak “truth to power” and to empower the communities that have been historically kept down in this country.
