Hi Everyone,

This Saturday our Labor Committee is hosting a panel discussion on the role of unions in the movement for Black lives, as part of our Racial Justice Speaker Series.

This panel brings together local labor and social justice leaders to contribute their insights on what the fight for democracy in the workplace means for the fight for an equitable, anti-racist society, and how we can forge stronger ties among grassroots organizations to take power from bosses and cops. Register for the Zoom Event Here.

Also coming up this weekend is our weekly Deep Canvassing meeting. You can Register Here for the zoom call and if you’d like to be involved in creating our neighborhood organizing push, you can fill out This Form and a coordinator will reach out to you.

If you are a member of DSA, please check your inbox and spam folders for an invite to our new, members-only Slack! You can also find the link to our new workspace pinned in the #dues_only channel on Slack. We will be migrating over fully and retiring our old workspace by July 23rd so if you have any questions or are unsure of your membership status you can email us for help.

National DSA is kicking off our first-ever virtual National Convention this year with a virtual fundraiser to Jumpstart Socialism for a New Tomorrow on Friday 7/30 (8-10pm ET) and tickets are now available! Donations are strongly encouraged, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Solidarity,

DSA New Orleans Local Council

P.S. New to DSA? Check out our chapter's new member resources here. You can also always email [email protected] with questions about how to get involved or about the work our chapter is doing. And if you're interested in joining our chapter's Slack, email [email protected].

Or not yet a member? The most important tool that the working class has is organization. We're strong when we fight together. We have to build a durable, mass political organization to wield the kind of power we need to win real change in our society. If you aren't a dues-paying member of DSA yet, join here!

Save the Libraries: Coalition Meeting

At our January General Meeting, we voted to re-join the Save Our Libraries Coalition. We are excited to be a part of this powerful coalition that is working to save the New Orleans Public Libraries, a beloved working class institution and one of the last places in public life that is truly accessible to all. Every Tuesday, the Coalition meets to discuss our ongoing work, plan for next steps, divvy up tasks, and organize! If you're interested in getting involved in the Save Our Libraries campaign, join these calls!
