Dear John,
Countries around the world are stepping up, announcing stronger standards for motor vehicles that put them on track to eliminate tailpipe pollution by 2035. And automakers are rising to the occasion, expanding commitments to build a zero-emission future for cars and trucks.
There has never been a better moment for the U.S. to announce a bold vision to eliminate auto pollution by 2035 and to ensure that over half of new vehicles sold by 2030 are zero-emitting. But to make that vision a reality, we need your help.
Tell President Biden to meet the moment on climate change by setting strong standards to help America win the race to a zero-emission future, securing jobs and protecting families & health.
By setting bold standards to eliminate tailpipe pollution from new motor vehicles, President Biden can accelerate electric vehicle production in the U.S. and put us back on track to achieve our climate goals.
Realizing this vision would have enormous benefits for Americans’ health, the climate, and our pocketbooks:
- It would prevent as many as 98,000 premature deaths by 2050 by significantly reducing the ozone-forming pollution and harmful particulate pollution that disproportionately burdens people of color;
- It would reduce a total of more than 11.5 billion metric tons of carbon pollution by 2050;
- It would save a person who purchases a new battery electric vehicle in 2027 $5,300 over the vehicle’s lifetime compared to a gasoline vehicle; and
- It would provide more than $1.6 trillion in benefits to Americans, including pollution reductions and economic savings.
Take action today: Urge the Biden administration to clearly declare that the U.S. is committed to a future free from the harms of motor vehicle air pollution – a future that is healthier, more equitable and more prosperous.
Thank you for your leadership,
Wes Rogerson
