It's past time we transform public safety, John.
Last weekend, Cori visited Denver, Colorado to learn how Denver's STAR and Safe Outdoor Spaces programs keep the community safe and prioritize care instead of criminalization.
The STAR program is a pilot program that sends licensed social workers and health professionals to respond to mental health and substance use crises, and the Safe Outdoor Spaces program provides non-carceral, health-focused housing support to unhoused members of the Denver community. These programs take a common sense approach to public safety and put people first.
Story after story and statistic after statistic show that programs like these that treat public safety as a public health issue and bring real justice to our communities are successful.
This is something that can be a reality in St. Louis — and in states around the country. That's why Cori introduced her new bill, the People's Response Act, to invest in community-led, health-based investments in public safety.
John, if you support Cori's work to save lives in Congress, will you make a donation of $5 or more today to power Cori's work to transform our system of public safety? We will not all be safe until the current system of policing as we know it does not exist.

Too often, people needing help for a mental health crisis or substance abuse disorder are thrown out onto the streets or put in jails, which can lead to compounded traumas. Instead, we can view public safety through intersectional lenses which also address health care, immigration, education equity, decarceration, gun violence and trauma prevention, and intimate partner violence.
John, Cori is passionate about this fight because as someone who has been unhoused and worked in mental health services as a nurse, Cori knows our communities deserve better.
Cori won't stop until we've transformed public safety and until every person that needs help in our communities is met with compassion. Can you make a $5 donation to show your support for Cori's work to save lives?
Thank you for your support,
Team Cori
