The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) is looking for a smart and creative litigator who is willing to work hard to fight antisemitism, ensure Israel’s safety and security, and protect the civil rights of the Jewish people.
Responsibilities: Preparing and managing cases, including cases involving antisemitic harassment and discrimination at federally funded schools; assessing potential actions and issues to tackle, and developing strategies for effectively addressing them; interviewing witnesses and potential complainants; researching substantive issues of federal, state and local law; preparing letters, legal complaints, briefs, and related documents; researching, analyzing and writing about public policy issues, including op-eds and letters; delivering oral presentations to a variety of audiences; interacting with government officials, school officials (including university administrators and faculty), other nonprofit organizations, activists and the public; assisting in the preparation of conferences, workshops, lectures and symposia; and generally providing trusted legal and policy support.
Qualifications: Excellent academic credentials and a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school; member of the bar (preferably New York); professionalism, integrity and a strong work ethic; excellent analytical, research, writing, and communication skills; flexible and cooperative with a roll-up-your sleeves attitude. Litigation experience and a demonstrated interest in the ZOA’s mission and work. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, and proficiency in conducting online legal research.
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience
Travel: Some travel required.
