Friend,
Like most people, I find myself overwhelmed by the news coming out of the Trump administration and in search of a bright spot...a reason for hope.
Last week, Burlington had the honor of hosting Congressman John Lewis, one of the preeminent voices of conscience in our nation.
It was a poignant evening -- more than a few tears were shed.
For instance, when Senator Leahy introduced Congressman Lewis as "a moral force for good in Congress, equaled by no other."
Or when Congressman Lewis answered the final audience question about what he thinks is the modern equivalent of the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma. (I'll let you watch his soul-stirring and to the point answer yourself.)
You can watch two of my favorite clips from the evening, including Congressman Lewis' answer to the above, right here:
If you're as moved as I am by this powerhouse team of constitutional advocates and protectors, will you join Senator Leahy and me in thanking Congressman Lewis for his immense service to our country? We're so lucky to have you both in Congress.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Carolyn Dwyer
Campaign Manager, Leahy for Vermont
