Jack, Texas Democrats have pulled the alarm and broken the glass. Our democracy is in a dire state of emergency, and action from the federal government is required to save it.
These brave state legislators fled the Texas state capitol (where Republicans are ramming through an outrageous voter suppression bill), and are in Washington DC right now to meet with national leaders to demand that we pass the For the People Act and the John Lewis Act.
And they have a meeting with Sen. Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia.) They will tell him that failure is not an option, and we must pass federal legislation to protect our freedom to vote.
Show these Texas Democrats you have their back. Click to phonebank to West Virginia voters, and ask them to call Senator Manchin in support of the For the People Act. We are making calls every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to West Virginia voters.

Phonebanking West Virginia voters is easy, and effective. Every week, our friends at Common Cause organize hundreds of volunteers across the country to call thousands of Joe Manchin's constituents. Door-to-door canvasses are also happening in West Virginia, so you are helping to supplement a local effort. And it results in thousands of phone calls to Manchin's office.
Our democracy is at a dangerous crossroads. As President Biden said in his speech on July 13, we are facing our most difficult test since the Civil War. And what our leaders in D.C. do over the next few weeks—especially Senator Joe Manchin—will help determine our fate.
The brave Texas legislators who fled their state to come to Washington DC need our ongoing support. As they meet privately with Senator Manchin, we need to mobilize more of his West Virginia constituents to call his office in support of the For the People Ac and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. And because failure is not an option, we must use all means to get there.
Click to volunteer on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday this week and make phone calls to West Virginia constituents in support of the For the People Act and John Lewis Act.
