We have some good news to share, John.
Earlier this month, Congress passed the Invest in America Act -- an infrastructure bill that would deliver $20 million for new projects directly to CA-49. If passed, this bill would lock in funding to improve local railways in Del Mar, highways in Carlsbad, and roads and sidewalks in Vista.
This legislation is an important step in passing President Joe Biden's American Jobs Plan -- an effort I fully support -- to repair and modernize our infrastructure. As we work to pass the American Jobs Plan, it's critical that we do so in a way that meets this climate crisis head-on.
Here are just a few of the provisions I'm supporting:
» Work toward a carbon-free powered electric grid by 2035
» Ensure access to clean water by replacing our country's lead pipes
» Create millions of high-wage union jobs in clean energy manufacturing
» Improve air and water quality in communities of color harmed by toxic pollution
Now is the time for much-needed and bold investments in our future, and the good news is we are making great progress. I'm hopeful that Senate Democrats and Republicans will arrive at a deal. But it won't happen if we don't stay vocal and engaged on this issue:
Please add your name to this petition urging the US Senate to put aside their differences, take up Biden's legislation, and move forward to rebuild our infrastructure. This is an incredible opportunity that we must not squander.
We are delivering on what the American people voted for last November. Now is the time to double down, tune out the noise, and make sure we stay engaged on the issues that matter.
Let's get this done,
Mike
