Alexandria was recently appointed to the new Select Committee on Economic Disparity & Fairness in Growth which aims to address wealth inequality in our nation — and we want to take a moment to explain what that means:
AOC will be in charge of tackling generational disparities and increasing worker power in the economy. And her priorities will be revisiting some of the basic assumptions about the U.S. economy — including inflation and the management of inflation by the Federal Reserve, and reducing unemployment — ensuring every American has a dignified job.
The last time a committee like this was created was during the Roosevelt administration. And having someone like Alexandria — joined by colleagues like Pramila Jayapal — on a committee whose main function is to promote economic fairness and growth means we have a real opportunity to tackle our long-standing issues of economic inequity head on.
