The attacks just keep coming — last week, Gov. Henry McMaster appealed to a federal judge to throw out Planned Parenthood’s challenge to South Carolina’s fetal heartbeat law.
McMaster has promised to defend the SC GOP’s restrictive abortion ban “against every challenge at every level.”
South Carolina’s fetal heartbeat law is dangerous and morally reprehensible. I’m thankful for the advocates at Planned Parenthood who filed the lawsuit to prevent this law from entering into effect.
But attacks like this are nothing new in our state — women’s reproductive rights have been the target of Republicans for decades.
It’s why I introduced my Viagra Bill in the General Assembly to show the glaring hypocrisies my Republican colleagues engage in every time they restrict a woman’s right to choose.
They won’t stop until they get their way and wield control over a woman’s right to choose and access reproductive health care.
