John,
We’ve started driving calls to U.S. Senators to ensure we have the 50 votes necessary to pass President Biden’s and the American people’s budget priorities.
We’re fighting to ensure that the budget resolution being negotiated right now will make the rich and corporations start paying their fair share in taxes―at least $4 trillion more over ten years.
To make sure our Senators are listening, can you take a moment to send a letter to yours today? We’ve drafted the letter for you, so it’ll only take a moment to send.
Because we have zero margin for error in the Senate, we’re making calls and sending letters to Senate offices this week and next to build a groundswell of support. We need to ensure we have the 50 votes needed! Democrats are planning to use a special procedure called reconciliation that lets them pass a budget resolution with majority, rather than supermajority―support.
While some moderate Democrats want to cut the needed investments in half, we know we can afford them when the rich and corporations pay their fair share. This includes raising the corporate tax rate to 28%; treating wealth like work so the super-rich don’t pay a lower tax rate on their investments than workers pay on their wages; closing loopholes to stop corporations from outsourcing jobs and shifting profits to offshore tax havens; and cracking down on tax cheats through increased IRS enforcement.
Can you send a letter to your U.S. Senators today? The next two weeks are critical to reminding Senators where the American people stand.
New Americans for Tax Fairness polling shows that nearly 7 in 10 voters support raising taxes on the rich and corporations―and that it’s a top tier issue just as important as creating jobs![1]
Thank you for taking action today to demand the wealthy and corporations pay at least $4 trillion more in taxes over the next decade.
