“I’m perplexed by the reluctance of some to get vaccinated, totally perplexed.”
That’s what Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said last week.
Perplexed, huh?
- Could it have anything to do with Republican politicians all across America who lined up to join Donald Trump in downplaying the severity of COVID-19, dismissing mask wearing and social distancing, winking at (if not openly espousing) conspiracy theories about the vaccines, and fomenting an overall distrust in science and government among their voters?
- And after Trump himself, who was *the* single most powerful Republican in office throughout all of that? (Answer: Mitch McConnell.)
- Mitch McConnell is arguably as responsible as anyone for enabling Trump’s blundering, disastrous presidency — including the catastrophic (lack of) response to the coronavirus, which has killed 600,000 Americans and counting.
- Yet he claims to be “perplexed” as to why so many Americans aren’t getting vaccinated? Look in the mirror, Mitch.
- Meanwhile, over 99% of Americans who died from COVID-19 last month were unvaccinated.
Tell Senator Mitch McConnell:
You were the most powerful Republican in Congress throughout Donald Trump’s presidency. Yet you did virtually nothing to challenge Trump — not even as his disastrous response to the coronavirus led to the avoidable deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans. And now you say you are “perplexed”? What’s perplexing is why you haven’t resigned in complete disgrace.
Add your name.
Thanks for taking action.
