Texas Democrats bravely denied quorum to stop the latest push to suppress the vote in Austin. It’s time Senate Democrats in Washington showed the same courage. |

Friend,
Yesterday, Democratic legislators in Texas flew to Washington, D.C. to deny a quorum and stop Republican plans to suppress the vote during a special legislative session.
They’ve arrived in our nation’s capital in a last-ditch effort to renew the push to pass federal voting rights legislation. This bold maneuver could save us valuable time, but only if Senate Democrats get the message.
While Texas Democrats have gone to great lengths to safeguard our democracy, Democrats in Washington have failed to demonstrate the same level of urgency or unity over recent months. This has the potential to be a defining moment in our fight to protect the right to vote, but only if we speak out.
Act now: Urge your senators to bypass the filibuster so we can save our democracy from extreme voter suppression.
Earlier today, President Biden spoke at Philadelphia’s Constitution Center to outline what’s at stake in this moment. He made it very clear — if left unchecked, the Republican Party will continue to dismantle our core democratic principles and restrict access to the ballot box.
The GOP has shown they’re willing to do anything to be in power, even undermine our fundamental rights. Democrats in Congress must wake up to what is happening in states like Texas and around the country before it’s too late.
If an outdated rule like the filibuster is stopping the Democratic majority in Congress from passing popular, necessary legislation, then they must reform it or abolish it altogether. There’s no room for error in this pivotal moment.
Send a message to your senators: End the filibuster so we can finally pass the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.
Thank you,
