Team, take a look at this groundbreaking news coming out of Nevada this week:
We’re proud that Nevada is leading the way in the fight to decriminalize cannabis use.
Marijuana legislation has a history of disproportionately targeting Black Americans — particularly Black men — and we’re glad to see this important reversal of an outdated policy.
States across the country are taking meaningful action to undo the history of racism embedded in marijuana laws, but there’s still more to do.
Just a few weeks ago, Sha’Carri Richardson won the 100 meter dash at the Olympic Trials, earning a spot on the USA Olympic team. But then, due to an outdated policy prohibiting marijuana use, she was suspended and left off the team.
It’s simple: In more ways than one, we are allowing racist, outdated perspectives on marijuana use to hold us back as a nation.
It’s time for that to end.
Today, we’re asking you to use your voice to speak out against laws that force us to live in the past. Nevada is a leader for progress, and we have the power to make a difference on this important issue.
Do you support decriminalizing and legalizing marijuana use? Add your name to our survey to share your thoughts:
The truth is, when we do away with policies that hold Americans back, we’re all better off.
Thank you for using your voice today,
Team Sisolak
