The Women's Fund of Colorado had a successful 2021 Legislative Season. The Women’s Foundation’s top-three priority bills and 21 of 22 that the Foundation took positions on passed. WFCO’s priority bills will bring more flexible and holistic resources to women and their families, especially those most vulnerable to systemic inequities.
Other bills that WFCO supported can broadly be categorized as supporting women’s economic equity in three areas: Child care and meeting the needs of families with young children; Reproductive healthcare access; and resources to meet basic needs, including education and employment.

Even after the Fourth of July has ended, The National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP) calls on all of us to continue reflecting about the current state of America and what the last year has taught us about racial equity. Celebrating the promise of America on a holiday like July 4th doesn't absolve us from continuing to explore the impacts of the wrongdoings America has done in the name of doing right.
Check out some of their resources:
Debra Watkins of A Black Education Network offers her perspective on how to navigate working with funders to better resource Black-led nonprofits and shares 4 pieces of advice for nonprofits asking for increased funding.
NCRP Field Director Ben Barge discusses why the Brooklyn Community Foundation’s recent announcement is an unprecedented and important leap forward in explicitly funding Black communities and what other community foundations can do to have a similarly powerful impact.
