Dear John,
Our friends at First Light are hosting a benefit concert and fundraiser for four indigenous-led groups working to reconnect native tribes with land in Northern New England. I hope you will support these vital efforts by making a donation and attending the concert.
Below is a message from the First Light Team:
Native leaders are needed at the forefront of efforts to heal the land. To show solidarity for their efforts, First Light is organizing to raise 20k or more by July 24th for 4 Indigenous-led groups working for land return in Northern New England: Bomazeen Land Trust, Native Land Conservancy, Northeast Farmers of Color Land Trust, and the Wabanaki Commission on Land and Stewardship. You can help us reach this goal by making a donation here. 100% of donations will be donated directly to these 4 organizations.
To celebrate these efforts and build momentum to reach our fundraising goal, First Light will be livestreaming a benefit concert featuring the music of Lula Wiles on July 24th at 7 pm.
Lula Wiles is a Maine-based folk band that draws on community-building traditions, and is fronted by Abenaki activist Mali Obomsawin. We invite you to tune in to the livestream through this Facebook event, or buy an in person ticket here (concert held in Waitsfield, VT). It would be a fantastic accomplishment for our conservation movement if professionals working in our field from across Maine demonstrated that they promote and support Indigenous-led efforts to steward land in the Northeast.
I hope you will donate and tune in!
Thank you, Abbie
