For years now, Iowa's roads and bridges have continued to crumble -- posing a major threat to our communities, our safety, and our livelihoods.
That's why I was glad to hear that the House just passed the INVEST in America Act, which will deliver billions in much-needed funds to repair our roads, bridges, water infrastructure, and transit.
But here's the hitch: Chuck Grassley is likely to vote against the bill when it reaches the Senate, because frankly, he doesn't give a damn about Iowans.
Rebuilding our infrastructure isn't just about bridges and waterways, it's about putting Iowans back to work with jobs that provide benefits and a living wage.
Building back our communities to be stronger and more resilient -- while providing stable work for Iowans -- is just plain old common sense.
Unfortunately, our current Senator doesn't see it that way. Chuck Grassley and Senate Republicans will block just about anything the Democrats try to pass, even if it would actually help the people they claim to represent.
