The Amazon is at a tipping point, yet banks continue to fund and invest in Amazon oil. JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, and HSBC are some of the worst actors when it comes to financing oil and gas exploitation in the Amazon.
These banks must stop financing Amazon crude and exclude all Amazon oil and gas from their investments and financing.
If banks are serious about confronting climate change, they cannot financially support extractive activities that cause deforestation and degradation. Amazon crude is directly linked to climate change and biodiversity loss, as well as Indigenous rights violations, deforestation, pollution, and corruption.
In line with urgent calls to wind down the fossil fuel industry, we must demand that institutions immediately End Amazon Crude.
Tell the CEOs of JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, and HSBC to do their part and adopt Amazon-wide exclusion policies for the oil and gas industries!
