We’re at a dangerous impasse. Every single day, Republicans are trying to make it harder to vote. They continue to propagate the Big Lie. Just last month, they filibustered critical voting rights and democracy protection bills. And last week, their members were caught behind closed doors bragging about forcing “18 months of chaos” before the next election.
They are the party of anti-democracy. The party of obstruction. Republicans have more allegiance to a man in Mar-a-Lago than to our democracy and the American people – even during unprecedented public health, economic, and environmental crises.
It’s increasingly clear that if we don’t act now, we may never be able to. And that’s dangerous for our country.
While Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans oppose voting rights and other major Democratic priorities, I’m applying all the pressure I can to Senate Democrats to abolish the filibuster. Time is running out before the midterms and we must pass the legislation demanded by voters last November.
Voting rights, health care, climate action, student debt relief, and so much more are under attack every single day while Mitch McConnell and Republicans hold veto power over our agenda from the minority.
You have already done so much. But hitting our first mid-month fundraising goal of the new FEC quarter is more important than ever. July and August are difficult months for Democrats – and we can’t afford to fall behind.
We need to apply more pressure to end the filibuster, defend our majorities, and win additional seats in the House and Senate — or all our progress will be stopped in its tracks.
