Today we launch Communities of Care and we want you to be part of it!

John —

Every single day, across the country, family caregivers, care workers, and care consumers build community and care for each other. We know what it looks like when care works — when people can access quality care, when care workers have good salaries and benefits, and when family caregivers have support.

Today, with National Domestic Workers Alliance, Hand in Hand: The Domestic Employers Network, and the Care Can’t Wait Coalition we’re launching an art exhibit by artist Paola Mendoza at Freedom Plaza in Washington D.C. inspired by real-life care teams from all across the country. If you’re in D.C. or the surrounding area, please join us to see the exhibit running from July 13 to July 17.

But if you’re not in D.C. you can still be part of this incredible moment in our movement. Visit the Communities of Care website to see the stunning portraits of these care teams and hear the audio interviews about their lives and the care they do every day.

A pale blue graphic with a background of a map of the United States. On the graphic are four circular images connected by dashed lines. The first image is of care worker Brionna and care consumer Gemma. The second is home care worker Patrice with care consumer Darlene. The fourth image is of Keith, a disabled man, and his caregiver Tyler. The final image is of home care worker Lupe and care recipient Melinda. Text on the image reads “It’s time to celebrate care.”

There are a few other ways you can get involved:

  1. Share a photo of yourself and people you care about with the hashtag #CareCantWait.
  2. Watch the Care is Essential march livestream at 9:30 AM ET from our partners NDWA and SEIU.
  3. Tell your members of Congress that care can’t wait!

If you’re in D.C. I hope to see you during the exhibit. But if you’re not, we really hope you will still see yourself reflected in the beautiful portraits at the Communities of Care website, and share a photo of your care squad with #CareCantWait.

With care,
