BIG NEWS BIG NEWS!!! Because of the generous support of folks like you, our team has grown! Team — meet: Samantha Wells, the new Strategic Engagement Manager on #TeamEmily!
Sam’s a native of our community and a jack of all trades. She may have made your coffee or served you a tasty meal and an adult beverage, but these days she’s utilizing her master’s degree to help make an impact for neighbors like you. Excited for you to get to know her!
Where is home for you?
I grew up walking to Manchester Elementary + taking the bus to Sedgwick. I graduated from South Kitsap in 2012 and I commuted to University of Washington Tacoma for my Bachelors and Seattle for my Masters. I think what I really consider home is driving on HW 16, crossing the Tacoma Narrows. When I see that beautiful view of Gig Harbor surrounded by water, I always think to myself: “this is home.”
If you believe we need someone like Emily advocating for our home — chip in a few dollars to make sure she can keep working for us. [link removed]
Where you’ll find me…
Grabbing coffee: Cup of Jo in Port Orchard, GOAT in Gorst, or Cafe Corvo in Bremerton
Having a drink with friends: Ashley’s Pub, Local Boys, Peninsula BevCo, Tides Tavern, Seven Sea, Whiskey Gulch…the list goes on!
Adventuring outdoors: Renting a kayak or SUP in the Harbor, or walking Anderson Point or Kitsap Regional Park
Buying gifts: Urban Plant in downtown Bremerton shop or Invitation Bookshop in Gig Harbor
Brunching: Devoted Kiss (made me fall in love with eggs benedict!) or The Garage
How did you get connected with Emily?
It’s kind of cute and wholesome. I was working as a banquet server at Ocean 5 the night of Students of Distinction, and Senator Randall was there to speak. I was just getting into the weeds of my graduate program (MSW at UW) and was really lit with a fire to pursue my passion to make healthcare affordable, accessible, and equitable for all. I’ll admit I had been fan-girling over her—FINALLY having someone represent me in office that I could connect with when it came to values. I told her how much her healthcare work meant to me and how we desperately needed change. Emily said “lets do it together.” And we did! In support of small businesses locally, in Olympia around healthcare access, and on local campaigns. Her warm welcoming presence always makes it feel like I have a friend representing me.
What are you most excited about in this role?
#1: get Emily re-elected!
#2: connecting with community and building our collective power! After the year we have had (and now that I’m fully vaccinated!) I’m looking forward to in person gatherings, hearing from neighbors like you about what matters most, and why you love what Emily brings to Olympia. I am excited to support you when you volunteer, encourage you to contribute your hard-earned money, and to work together to make our community the best it can be.
You're bound to get a call from me soon—inviting you to events like Senator Emily Randall's Community Coffee Hour in the Harbor this coming Wednesday afternoon, postcard-writing events, and lots more.
Even with good old-fashioned people power, it costs money to organize, to host events, and to get our message out. Can you help me start my new job strong and make an investment in Emily's re-election campaign: [link removed]
