Dear Friend,

The 7th Annual CA-27 Photo Contest is Underway!

ImageMy office is already receiving submissions for this year's CA-27 Photo Contest – but there’s still time to get your picture in! I want to see what you’re most looking forward to this summer now that we are reopening and many of us getting back to normal. To participate in the contest, send me a picture of how you are spending your summer - it can be a family gathering, a concert, or just a dinner indoors. The only rules are that the photo must be from here in the 27th Congressional District and it must be one that you took.

E-mail your photo to [email protected] by this Wednesday, July 14th at 12 PM and then follow me on Facebook (www.facebook.com/RepJudyChu). The photo with the most “likes” on Facebook by 12 PM on July 27th will be my new cover photo for a year, and it will hang in my Washington, D.C. office! I'm excited to see what you’re most looking forward to this summer in the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys!

Child Tax Credit Payments Begin This Week!

Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, the IRS will start delivering checks up to $300 per month per child beginning this Thursday, July 15th! If you have filed your 2019 or 2020 taxes, or provided the IRS with your information to receive Economic Impact Payments, commonly known as stimulus checks, you will not need to take additional steps to receive your payment. If the IRS has your direct deposit information, you will receive your payment in your bank account this Thursday, and on the 15th of each subsequent month. If the IRS does not have your direct deposit information, you will be mailed a check or a pre-paid debit card at the address they have on file. Taxpayers are also able to update their bank account information with the IRS HERE

If you are not required to file taxes and did not sign up for Economic Impact Payments, you can still sign up for the Child Tax Credit Payments. And to help families determine whether they qualify for the Child Tax Credit, the IRS has provided resources and guidance in English, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified), Korean, Vietnamese, and other languages HERE. Additionally, I recently hosted a conversation on Facebook Live to help answer your questions and you can watch online HERE. And as always, please reach out to my Pasadena office at 626-304-0110 at any time with questions.

Sincerely,

Judy Chu, PhD
Member of Congress
