John,

Are you paying attention to what’s happening in Texas?

FIRST: Texas Governor Greg Abbot called a special legislative session to pass new voter suppression bills after Democrats successfully blocked similar legislation in May.

THEN: This weekend, Republican state legislators advanced their draconian, undemocratic bills (H.B.3 and S.B.1) in the dead of night.

NOW: Over 55 Democratic state lawmakers have FLED THE STATE—risking arrest in order to block a vote on H.B. 3 and S.B. 1.

These fearless lawmakers are on their way to Washington to pressure every single Senate Democrat to pass the For the People Act and protect our sacred right to vote.

Texas Democrats are putting it all on the line for our democracy—and they need to know we have their backs. Please, if you’re standing with these brave Texans fighting for our Democracy, it’s your turn to say it—add your name now to show your support.

STAND WITH TEXAS

Texas is ALREADY one of the most difficult states in the country in which to cast a ballot. And this bill is just about as bad as it gets. It would:

  • Ban 24-hour and drive-through voting;

  • Enact new requirements for vote-by-mail;

  • Limit third-party ballot collection;

  • Expand the authority of partisan poll-watchers;

  • And allow losing candidates to harass winning candidates in court, further undermining the integrity and legitimacy of elections.

We can’t let these lawmakers fight H.B. 3 and S. 1 by themselves. It’s on lawmakers in Washington to pass the For the People Act and enshrine CRITICAL voter protections in federal law. Add your name if you agree >>

We need you to step up now. Thanks for doing your part.
