Friends,
The opportunity to visit with families, organizations, and small businesses across Northeast Wisconsin is one of the best parts of representing the Eighth District in Congress. While we may not always realize it, the buildings and warehouses lining our streets are doing incredible things each and every day that make our community the best place to live and raise a family.
My staff and I are fortunate to see these incredible stories of service and entrepreneurship firsthand, and we want to make sure you see them too. That’s why today I’m launching the NEWsflash, a monthly initiative to help make sure you don’t miss any news about the great things happening in our community.
Below you’ll find pictures and recaps from events my staff and I have been able to attend, a recap of great stories about the Eighth District, and information on how my office can better help you. If you like the NEWsflash and want to keep receiving these updates, please click HERE to subscribe. And as always, please don’t hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance.

Summer Reads: To kick off summer, Little Chute Public Library showed off its newly renovated space. This will be a great asset to the community as we try to help kids get back up to speed after a year of remote learning.

Hoops: Harry Boyce, the head coach and founder of 'Team 1848' unveiled his project, The Workshop. The Workshop has brand new basketball courts as well as weight rooms so athletes in Hobart and NEW can have the best facilities available.

Sweet Treats: On June 3, Sticky Fingers Cafe and Catering became Kaukauna's newest business. My staff had the opportunity to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony (and try a handful of delicious treats too). After a difficult year, it's great to see entrepreneurs opening up new businesses and creating jobs in our community.

Coffee Talk: Vets & Friends holds breakfast every Friday, and several other events like grill-outs and potlucks for local veterans. On June 4th, my staff was able to attend their reopening to meet with local veterans and enjoy coffee and snacks in the courtyard. Vets & Friends is one of many organizations that go above and beyond to make sure returning service members have a support network in our community.

Stories to Remember: On June 14, my team was honored to be at the unveiling of the Veterans Storytelling Wall inside the Resch Expo in Brown County. The memorial honors the veterans and active service members in our community who fought and sacrificed for our nation. It's a fantastic addition to our community, which you can learn more about HERE.

Building Begins: My team attended the USS Cleveland (LCS 31) Keel Laying on June 16th, in Marinette, WI. LCS 31 will be the fourth ship named after the city of Cleveland since World War I, and will serve as yet another reminder of Marinette's proud shipbuilding history.

Unwrapping: My team celebrated the opening of the Green Bay Packaging Paper Mill, the first new mill in Wisconsin in 35 years, by attending their ribbon-cutting ceremony. Not only will this new endeavor create jobs in our community, but it will also cut its greenhouse gasses by 50% by using recycled material. For more information, watch HERE.

Road Trip: Earlier this month, the Federal Highway Administration recognized the new National Scenic Byway in Door County. The 66-mile road takes you from Sturgeon Bay all the way to the tip of the peninsula with beautiful lake views along the way. Being designated as a National Scenic Byway will help protect the natural beauty of the drive, and the will increase tourism to Door County.

|
Bridging the Gap: My team also had the opportunity to attend the Nelson Family Heritage Crossing dedication on June 18th. The new trail crosses over the Fox River and connects Little Chute to the city of Kaukauna. This project will boost the local economy and increase tourism in the area.

Breaking Ground: On June 30th, Ariens Co. toasted to the new Round Lake Farms property and event venue. Dan Ariens unveiled that they have plans to add an official Olympic Biathalon training course as well, which would be one of only 3 in the nation!
