Dear John,
We’ve got just eight months until Election Day, and we’ve been door-knocking and talking to people all across the district. This kind of outreach—meeting people where they live and work—is fundamental to civic engagement and building a better political system.
For me, meeting voters is much more about listening than talking. I want to hear the challenges people are experiencing, what keeps them up at night, and what they think their representatives should do about it.
If you agree we need a lot more politicians listening to their constituents rather than feeding them empty talk, donate here to support our grassroots campaign. ([link removed])
Just last Friday, I had a great time going door-to-door and building-to-building in the district. We buzzed one woman who invited us up to her apartment, and we had a great in-depth discussion.
She brought up housing—and how rising inequality is acutely felt in the cost of housing. For a lot of people, every year it seems like rent goes up more than expected and wages just aren’t keeping up.
If you agree we need to ensure no family has to choose between paying the rent and putting food on the table, support this campaign for affordable housing. ([link removed])
We talked about how the majority of Americans have never been represented by people that look like them. White men have dominated our politics for too long.
If you’re ready to elect the first woman to this seat in 50 years, donate here. ([link removed])
At the end of the conversation, we agreed that the challenges we face are daunting, sometimes overwhelming, but we must do everything we can to change the status quo.
We’re working hard to win this seat and change the face of leadership in Washington, including one of the most basic things politicians seem to miss—taking the time to listen.
Thank you for being in this fight with me.
All my best,
Lindsey
