Antonio has been working nonstop to get better broadband for rural communities right here in NY-19 and across the entire country. He understands that there is a dire need for fast, reliable, and affordable internet access. That’s why earlier this year, he reintroduced a bill that centers around broadband mapping and speed improvements.
His bill holds internet service providers accountable by requiring a report that would show the actual speeds the internet is capable of providing, as opposed to what they can
potentially provide.
This fills in the gaps -- the “it could potentially’s” or the “it should be able to’s.” Plus, it allows us to seriously examine just how serious the digital divide persists in rural communities.

The pandemic has shed even more light on the lack of fast and reliable broadband in rural communities. Students that are learning online and families who are working from home are struggling -- and over the past few months, we saw too many people traveling miles to coffee shops, libraries, and even parking lot hot-spots just to access the internet.
Antonio believes that all Americans deserve access to reliable internet service, and he will continue to advocate for broadband expansion for our rural communities -- but he can’t do it alone.
