Rebecca Parson is a fierce, committed housing activist running in WA-06, a working-class district that encompasses Tacoma and the peninsula west of Seattle. This is Rebecca’s second time running to represent her district. Brand New Congress was proud to support her in 2020 and we are very excited to help her get the job done in 2022! As a long-time advocate for universal healthcare, Rebecca previously served as a board member for Whole Washington -- the organization fighting to pass a ballot measure for single payer healthcare in the state of Washington. Currently she sits on the Tacoma Area Commission on Disabilities, organizes with the Tacoma Tenants Organizing Committee, and Tacoma Housing Now. Rebecca is not the kind of person who waits for other people to solve problems. When she sees a need that isn’t being met, she rolls up her sleeves and gets the job done herself. Since her last run for office, Rebecca has been organizing her community with fellow housing advocates to occupy empty buildings and create shelter for the unhoused in the middle of the pandemic. In the last year, Rebecca’s team helped to significantly expand shelter bed capacity and access to hygiene stations. They won a two-month extension on temporary housing for vulnerable people and postponed a camping ban which would have criminalized the unhoused. This is going to be a tough race, but one that is absolutely winnable. The conservative wing of the Democratic party has held on to this seat for decades. While regular folks are struggling, the current representative is working double-time for his corporate benefactors. It’s time the working people of WA-06 had a champion of their own in Congress. Someone who doesn’t hesitate to stand up to power and organize for people’s basic human rights. That someone is Rebecca Parson, and she’s counting on us to help her win. Will you join us in supporting Rebecca today? If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: We’ve seen what a powerful impact activists make on the political process in Congress. That energy -- that sense of urgency and clear moral conviction -- is the best antidote to corporate influence and establishment complacency.
We’ve got to send people to Congress who will fight for us like lives are on the line -- because they are.
That’s exactly who Rebecca Parson is, and I am proud to have her on the slate once again.
