Our country saw historic voter turnout in 2020 with expanded voting opportunities like vote-by-mail. But as a result, Republicans are now leading a nationwide effort to roll back voting rights, including right here in Montana.

This past Spring, the GOP-controlled state legislature passed a voting restrictions bill that now bans paid ballot collection, making it harder for Native Americans living on reservations to vote.

As the New York Times reported, without ballot collection efforts by community organizations, countless Native voters would have to drive two hours or more to cast their ballot.

I voted against this bill in the state House, but unfortunately it passed with our Republican majority. Similar laws are making it more difficult for students, seniors, and communities of color to vote all across the country.

It’s clear what’s happening here: Republicans are actively working to make it harder to vote in order to improve their chances at winning elections. We need leaders in Washington committed to making it easier, not harder, for the people to make their voices heard.

As your next representative, I can guarantee you that I’ll always stand up for each and every Montanan’s right to vote.

Will you join me in standing with our tribes and other communities targeted by these voter suppression efforts, and call on Montana’s leaders to expand voting access?

Thank you for standing up on this critical issue,
