These politicians are preventing any forward movement on our toughest challenges, including protecting democracy and voting rights, expanding access to health care, rebuilding the economy in the wake of COVID-19, and cleaning up the messes made by the Trump administration.

The initial 13 “Enemies of Progress” include the attorneys general from Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, and West Virginia.

Among the worst offenders are Ken Paxton (Texas), who led the unsuccessful charge to overturn the 2020 presidential election; Steve Marshall (Alabama), who served as head of the organization that helped incite the January 6th insurrection; Mark Brnovich (Arizona), who defended racially discriminatory voting laws; and Jeff Landry (Louisiana), who argued in favor of discriminating against LGBTQ people in the workplace.

We’ve also released a report outlining the ties these 13 attorneys general have to the special interests that fund their political campaigns. It’s clear they’re working against the public interest to protect giveaways for the rich and powerful at the expense of the American people.
