It’s not the time to let up the pressure: it’s time to drive the point home

WOW. We just finished up one of our biggest congressional recesses ever -- with activists nationwide hosting over 350 events in 40 states and D.C. to make sure we meet the Deadline for Democracy!

Now that senators are back on Capitol Hill, it’s not the time to let up the pressure: it’s time to drive the point home. The Senate needs to pass the For the People Act by the end of the month so we have time for its provisions to go into effect before the 2022 midterms. Hundreds of events in their home states showed senators that we demand this bill, and now we need to show them we’re still watching.

That means driving as many calls as we can to Senate offices, every single day until the For the People Act comes up for a vote, to demand they pass the bill and eliminate the filibuster to make it happen. So as usual, we’ve got two actions for you to take:

  1. Call both of your senators and demand they pass S.1 and eliminate the filibuster to do it. The more sustained pressure we can build, the more senators will realize we demand real action. So keep calling every single day, and send the link to your friends too.

  2. Make a $10 donation to Indivisible. Keeping a project like this moving isn’t easy -- we’re running ads to recruit new activists, watching the news on the Hill and updating our policy guidance, working with local volunteers to keep up the pressure, paying for newspaper ads and billboards and more. And we rely on grassroots support to make it possible.

There’s almost nothing more inspiring than the way this movement steps up when it’s time to take action. Passing the For the People Act is our chance to make lasting, transformative change. And it’s going to take every one of us, doing everything we can, to make it happen.
